Color palette

With the yellow daylilies just starting to open,
the palette of the garden is shifting.

When I bought our house in 1987,
there were a lot of native orange daylilies in the gardens.

And then my sister Carlie sent me (via UPS!)
some yellow daylilies from her garden, 300 miles away,
and I've loved the lemony color ever since.

Each year when they begin to flower,
I remember that first planting.

Thanks, Car!
