Be still my heart!
Tonight I took my parents to our local bookstore for a Susan Branch book signing. Her new book is called A Fine Romance.
My dad offered to take our picture with Susan when we had our turn in the book signing line, but to prepare for that shot, he walked around practicing picture-taking with my point-and-shoot camera. When I got home, downloaded the pictures, and looked at them on the computer... Well. Maybe I shouldn't have said yes to his offer.
Granted, my camera doesn't take the best outside-in-the-dark pictures, but...
...even the inside pictures were a bit, er, shaky.
On the last shot in the series, though, my dad came through.
Yea! Thanks, Dad!
And Tuesday, my cousin Mary is treating my mom and me to tea with Susan Branch.
How exciting to meet a favourite author! I haven't read anything of hers, but that book looks right up my alley.

ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say what a joy it was to meet you yesterday at the tea. Dawn was "the hostess with the mostest!" as she introduced everyone to one another, wasn't she? What a doll. I only wish we had had more time to visit. With a crowd like that you can only get in little snippets of visits. I'm glad that I found your blog. What a journey you must have had this past year in the loss of your husband. I'm so sorry for your loss.

ReplyDeleteHi, Karen! It was wonderful to meet you, too - I love that you and your group drove in from Wisconsin. That's dedication! And yes, Dawn was great - definitely a Susan Branch girlfriend in the truest sense.
DeleteThank you for your kind words about losing Gerrit. It was a very difficult life for both of us, but of course much more so for him.
I'm glad you found my blog, too! Maybe I'll get back to writing more frequently than I have over the last months.
